ControlByWeb controllers are the go-to for many IoT integrators thanks to their simplicity and reliability. Unlike many traditional edge controllers, ControlByWeb relays include a built-in web server, which allows users to access and control devices remotely through any standard web browser. This eliminates the need for additional proprietary software or complex configurations. The web-based interface is intuitive, enabling quick setup and real-time monitoring. This is particularly beneficial for users who need to manage multiple devices across different locations.
ADAM Utility vs The Task Builder
The Advantech ADAM series uses the ADAM/APAX Utility to program automation. This software utilizes Graphic Condition Logic (GCL) to allow users to create logic rules through a graphical interface. It’s built into hardware like the ADAM-6000 and ADAM-6200.1,2
The ControlByWeb Task Builder is part of the embedded UI of all our devices—there’s no software or built-in file management system, which enhances simplicity and security. It utilizes an ‘if-this-then-that’ style of conditioning to create logic.
Both the ADAM Utility and Task Builder allow users to define conditions and actions visually, but we find the Task Builder to be easier to navigate and more intuitive. Importantly, since the Task Builder is not software, it can be accessed from any standard web browser on any desktop. The ADAM Utility needs to be installed on a compatible Windows machine.3

More Features, Less Complexity
ControlByWeb was founded by IoT engineers who saw a gap in the market for simple, cost-effective monitoring and/or control. That philosophy carries through all our controllers. Every relay includes the Task Builder, which simplifies logical control down to a few clicks thanks to an if-this flow and drop-down menus. They’re also perfectly capable as data gateways with compatibility for a range of sensors and other third-party hardware and software. Whether or not you need logic, ControlByWeb has the drop-in solution for your edge data application.
Where other companies offer a deceptive “suite” of software with compounding costs, we have a single optional subscription and no hidden costs. The ControlByWeb Cloud enhances remote device management and data logging for less than $1/device per month. (This contrasts Monnit’s “notification credits” that are required for every sensor alert.)
Simple & Powerful
Like the ADAM controllers, our devices support a wide range of analog and digital I/O options and features like peer-to-peer networking. Where our products stand out is in their ease of use and robust, local support. Our in-house sales engineers and support team are only a call or message away to determine an ideal solution for your project or troubleshoot an existing system.
Experience the difference with ControlByWeb and take your IoT projects to the next level.
