  • The Quick-Connect Sensor (X-QCS™) is a single temperature sensor that can be daisy-chained with other sensors for accurate ambient or contact temperature data capture.
  • The Quick-Connect Adapters (X-QCA™) allow the X-QCS to interface with our IoT controllers. Each sensor has two RJ11 jacks to quickly daisy-chain multiple sensors together with a data cable.

Our latest IoT controllers can automatically detect the order and device IDs of connected X-QCS sensors, which makes deploying a temperature monitoring solution much easier.

It can be time-consuming to manually set up multiple temperature sensors. Often, a single sensor must first be directly connected to a controller. This process must be repeated for every sensor before they can all finally be connected in a daisy chain. This is further complicated if the central system can’t be accessed from the site of the installation. Our 400 Series edge controllers combine with the Quick-Connect Sensor to save time, eliminate complexity, and reduce the potential for errors thanks to auto-detection.

When a chain of X-QCS sensors are plugged into a ControlByWeb controller—such as the X-406™ 1-Wire Multi-Bus Module or any other module with a 1-Wire bus—each sensor’s position in a chain is recorded and the device ID is automatically configured. This is true for both new and existing setups, and even when replacing single temperature sensors midway through an existing chain.

Note: In order for the X-QCS to be detected and assigned a position automatically, the paired ControlByWeb device needs to be on firmware v3.12.2.1 or greater. Review our firmware installation article to learn more about updating device firmware.

Versatility is top of mind with the X-QCS. Each sensor includes thermally conductive adhesive to attach the copper surface directly to sensitive equipment. They can also be used to measure ambient air temperature. Daisy-chained sensors can be connected via data cables up to 600 feet (180m) in length.

Strings of sensors can be mounted to various points on individual server racks and at intake and exhaust points. Multiple server racks can be monitored by using longer data cabling.

Precise, reliable temperature and humidity monitoring is crucial. Many ControlByWeb no-code controllers can be set up to monitor temperature through a built-in 1-Wire bus. This can be done without code using simple, if-this-then-that style logic and drop-down menus through the embedded UI. There are two controllers that are purpose built for temperature and humidity:

  • The X-405™ Temp and Humidity Module is a drop-in solution that can monitor and log up to 16 sensors. It can share this data with third-party software and is also capable of data logging through the ControlByWeb Cloud. It’s ideal for cold storage, boiler rooms, and commercial refrigeration.
  • The X-406™ 1-Wire Multi-Bus is the super-powered sibling to the X-405, featuring four independent 1-Wire buses that together support up to 64 individual sensors. It is also cloud-compatible. The X-406 is at home in warehouses, data centers, and greenhouses. Add the X-QCA-4 adapter, which is purpose-built for the X-406, to daisy-chain from up to four individual ports.
