Our REST API uses simple, well understood, and battle-tested HTTP Get requests to poll data, access log files, and control relay states from custom software, or from popular industrial platforms such as Ignition, TIA Portal, and more. This is quickly becoming the integration method of choice for many software engineers.
Open Industrial Protocols
We prioritize compatibility and ease of use by incorporating MQTT, Modbus TCP/IP, and SNMP into our edge controllers. This makes integration with virtually any industrial control system, SCADA, or IoT platform easy. These open protocols are industrial standards and have broad compatibility.

This ControlByWeb case study highlights IVI system designer Thad Failor, who built an all-in-one control panel that uses ControlByWeb modules communicating with their software via our Rest API, using HTTP GET requests. Our hardware allows the control system to monitor and control large scale HVAC equipment. Thad said that “the whole system together gives the storage manager the tools they need to be able to successfully store the product at the optimal conditions.”
Our edge controllers play a key role in agricultural temperature and humidity control. In this case, they’re connected to finely tuned equipment to monitor and control temperature, humidity, airflow, and CO2. They’re doing what they do best—monitoring sensor data, sending it back to the control software. The software processes the data and sends command back to ControlByWeb I/O modules that, in turn, control fans, lighting, HVAC units, humidifiers, and motorized doors and vents.
