Maintenance-free operation due to non-contact 80 GHz radar technology
Tank Level Monitoring
Water Treatment
VEGAPULS sensors are easy to install and operate, and work well in the water/wastewater supply network. These sensors measure the level and pressure accurately and reliably in containers, pipes, filters, and reservoirs.
Level measurement in the pure water tank
Non-contact level measurement with radar in the water storage basin. External display and adjustment unit for 4-20 mA/HART sensors.
Wastewater Treatment
Sewage treatment
Sewage plants around the world rely on VEGA measurement technology for their maintenance-free operation and accurate measurement data.
Flow-rate measurement in open channels
The radar sensor measures the flow rate continuously under all weather conditions.
Fuel Tank Level Monitoring
From airports to water treatment plants, businesses can rely on VEGA measurement technology for fuel level monitoring. They are low maintenance and provide high-accuracy readings, making them a reliable solution for fast-paced applications.
Non-Contact Fuel Level Monitoring
Measure fuel levels continuously in many different fuel tank sizes and shapes.

How does a radar level sensor work?
Radar level sensors emit microwave signals that are reflected back to the sensor by the target surface. The sensor measures the time of flight and calculates a distance from the sensor’s face. This is then converted to a level measurement based on how the sensor is scaled.
How accurate are radar-level sensors?
The VEGAPULS line of radar sensors are rated from ±5 mm to ±2 mm accuracy. Generally speaking, radar sensors are one of the more precise options for non-contact level measurement.
What is the difference between radar and ultrasonic level transmitters?
The primary difference between radar-level transmitters and ultrasonic is the type of signal they emit. Radar sensors use a microwave signal while ultrasonics use sound. Both are effective in different scenarios. Radar transmitters are generally more capable in a wider range of applications. However, ultrasonic sensors tend to be easier to work with as long as they’re well-suited for the application.
When should I use a radar-level transmitter?
Radar level transmitters work well with both liquids and solids level measurements. They tend to excel in more difficult applications as they can be finely tuned to the correct surface while ignoring obstacles. However, radar sensors are still a bit more expensive than simpler technologies like ultrasonic. If your application is simple, such as cold, clean water level monitoring, consider an ultrasonic level sensor for a more cost-effective solution. Contact us to discuss your specific needs. We’d be happy to help you select the right technology.
