Custom Dashboards
Aggregate any device information into a single logic grouping as needed. A report or graph forms the foundation of the dashboard content and scheduled reports.
Easy Data Logging & Graphing
Access data logs from any connected 400 Series devices for up to 90 days. Create simple, intuitive graphs of your data for at-a-glance monitoring.
Custom Reports
Reduce the time spent collating and manipulating exported data with scheduled reporting, which can be delivered via email to a recipient list.
Custom Formulas
Add a formula to a report or graph to simplify conversion values, reducing the repetitive task of data conversion.
Open REST API
The ControlByWeb Cloud uses an open REST API for seamless integration and control of your IoT devices from anywhere. Through simple and robust HTTP GET requests, our API allows you to poll data, access log files, and manage relay states. This flexibility, combined with the intuitive 400 Series UI, ensures full and secure I/O control and data retrieval.
Multi-Location Management
Managing a chain of convenience stores or monitoring multiple lift stations in a wastewater system? We’ve made multi-location management much easier with parent-child accounts. Set up child accounts for your locations and keep your data organized and under control. Create up to 5 generations of child accounts to manage your business the way that makes sense to you.
Logic: On-Device, Not Online
We have always designed our I/O devices to store all settings, programming, and logic on-device. This ensures that your I/O works independently of network connectivity or cloud uptime. The ControlByWeb Cloud enhances access to your devices without threatening reliability.
Save Big on Endpoints
Cloud solutions can become increasingly more expensive with additional endpoints—charges may be added for each sensor and switch connected to your monitoring and control system. We don’t charge based on endpoints. Our flexible system allows you to connect many endpoints without breaking the bank.
Need to connect an incompatible device? Our 400 Series controllers (X-400, X-408, X-410, etc.) can act as a gateway to pull data from our legacy products and push it to the cloud.
Security Matters
We care deeply about security. We’ve created a cloud solution with multiple layers of security to ensure the safety of your data and your network. In fact, for many customers, the cloud is a more secure way to manage remote devices.
Security Layers
All cloud data is encrypted. Add another layer of security, if you choose, by using the cloud to access each device without transmitting data to the cloud.
User Roles
Give the right people access to the right information. Keep data secure and well managed with user roles. Choose from a variety of admin, manager, and operator roles to empower your team.
Cellular Option
Don’t want to add a device to your existing network? You don’t have to with our X-400C cellular I/O device. It acts as a gateway to our cloud for any of our I/O controllers.
You Own Your Data
Our devices don’t automatically connect to the cloud, nor do they automatically push data to the cloud once connected. You control what gets to the cloud and you always own your data.
The Perfect Pair: Cellular and Cloud
Our X-400C and the ControlByWeb Cloud are designed to work hand-in-hand. The device seat for your X-400C device is included with your data plan, so your cloud subscription is included at no additional cost. The ControlByWeb Cloud makes monitoring easier and the X-400C makes more locations accessible.
Advanced device seats include all the features of basic seats, plus:
Extended Data Logging Data logs are accessible for 90 days for any connected 400 Series devices.
Custom Formulas Add a formula to a report or graph to simplify conversion values, reducing the repetitive task of data conversion.
Dashboards & Reports Aggregate any device information into a single logic grouping as needed. A report or graph forms the foundation of the dashboard content and scheduled reports.
Scheduled Reports Reduce the time spent collating and manipulating exported data with scheduled reporting, which can be delivered via email to a recipient list.

Once you create an account at controlbyweb.cloud, you can add your device seat with the code and generate a device token for adding your compatible device to your account. The quick start guide will walk you through each step. Setup on the cloud is simple and only takes a few minutes.
Which devices are compatible with the ControlByWeb® Cloud?
Our 400 Series and our wireless products can access our cloud, and our 400 Series can log to the cloud. However, you can link up any ControlByWeb device to the cloud by using Peer-to-Peer communication with a 400 Series controller (X-400, X-408, X-410, etc.). Compatible devices include: Access & Data Logging X-400 X-400C X-401 X-404 X-404C X-405 X-406 X-408 X-410 X-412 X-417 X-418 X-420 X-432 WebRelay-10 Plus WebSwitch Plus
There is no limit to the number of devices you can have on your account. However, for users with many devices, we recommend using child accounts to keep your devices organized.
When will I be billed?
Due to the affordability of our cloud platform, and the small transaction amounts that it results in, we have to bill annually to prevent credit card processing fees from becoming excessive. If you have over 50 devices, contact us to discuss options for more flexible billing.
What are device seats?
Device seats are simply the number of available spots, or seats, on your cloud subscription for adding devices. You will be billed for the number of device seats you purchase.
How do child accounts affect my device seats?
Your device seats can live at the parent level or get divided up and assigned to your child accounts in any way you want. For example, if you have 100 total device seats and two child accounts, you could assign 50 to one child account and 50 to another, or 80 to one and 20 to another. You can also keep them all in the parent account. It’s entirely up to you.
How do user roles work?
Users are split between admins, managers, and operators at various levels. We split up the roles between someone who uses the cloud but cannot change any settings and those who can alter settings at both the account and device level.
Is logging included in my standard fee?
Our Basic device seat includes data logging with 30 days of storage from any connected 400 Series device, and our Advanced device seat extends that to 90 days of storage. If you need to store your logged data for longer, you’ll need to download a .csv file for storage on a local computer. This can be done while viewing logged data on the device page. You can also program your device to email you data log records for long term storage.
How do I connect incompatible devices with a 400 Series (X-400, X-408, X-410, etc.) controller?
To connect an incompatible device to the cloud, you’ll need a compatible 400 Series device that can act as a gateway, or master, device. Once both devices are physically installed, you’ll enter the setup pages of the 400 Series device and add the incompatible device to it in the Devices section. You’ll then need to add any I/O points in the I/O Setup section. Finally, if you want to log data on incompatible devices on the cloud, you’ll need to enter the Logging & Control menu in the 400 Series controller and check the “Push Changes to Cloud” checkbox for each relevant endpoint.
How do I use the cloud without pushing data to the cloud?
The cloud, by default, only provides access to a device’s setup and control pages. The cloud will not pull data from your devices. If you want to log data on the cloud, then you need to set that up in the device and push that data to the cloud. So, if you want to use the cloud without data logging, you don’t need to do anything.
How do I update my firmware to be compatible with the cloud?
Based on your device, the instructions will vary. However, there are some basics that apply to all our devices. First, make note of your device settings or download them from your device (for 400 and 600 series products only). Second, download the latest firmware from www.ControlByWeb.com. Third, unzip the file and read the How To document included in the download and follow the instructions. Once done, you’ll need to restore your settings either manually or by uploading the settings file you saved on a 400 or 600 series device.
In all cases, you’ll need a computer with a Windows operating system.
Can I use the cloud for remote device access only?
Yes you can. In fact, that is the default relationship between the cloud and the device. If you want to do more than provide remote access, you have to change settings in the device to push data to the cloud. To access your devices via the cloud, make sure you enter your device login information on the device settings page.
How often does the cloud check in on my devices?
The cloud doesn’t pull data, your device pushes it. You can control how often your device pushes to the cloud in the device settings. Right now, your device pushes data to the cloud for the purpose of data logging. You set the interval in the Logging & Cloud settings on your 400 Series or wireless device. If you have an older 400 Series device and don’t see this option available, you may need to update your firmware. Contact us if you need help.
Is there an API?
Yes. Our API is available at docs.controlbyweb.cloud/api. The API can be used to build out your own apps and interfaces that pull data from our devices via our cloud, or to integrate your existing solution with our cloud servers.
Cloud Compatible Products
Access to the ControlByWeb Cloud is available for our WiFi products and our 400 Series (X-400, X-408, X-410, etc.) controllers. Data logging is available for our 400 Series. All other ControlByWeb devices are only compatible when sending their data to a 400 Series controller, which acts as a cloud gateway. For non-compatible products to work with a gateway, both devices need to be installed on the same network or use port forwarding to connect across networks.
